AUDIO FILE SERVER INACCESSIBLE

The audio file server is still inaccessible. The main server with these domains was out for around 10 hours, due to a network problem at my providers, and a related problem is probably what is still affecting the audio server.

Unfortunately my providers are not responding. Once again their incredibly 24/7 support team decided to go home with my second server still down. They should be back in the office now, but are ignoring my mail and service tickets.

I don't think I can get this set up quickly, but I'm looking into moving the audio files to LibSyn. I am trying to find some technical documents etc. to make sure that they can support what I want, but I will probably move over the weekend (which I'm not happy about as I wanted to get out with the new 100mm F2.8 IS Macro lens!! )

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully I'll be able to get this sorted out once and for all very soon.

OK, so still my providers are 'hoping' to hear back from their datacenter about the problems.

In the meantime, I've just created an account with GoDaddy, with unlimited storage and bandwidth. For the price I paid, I don't expect the downloads to scream along, but it's a grid solution with a dedicated IP address, so it should be reasonable. Anyway, the alternatives were just too expensive.

The problem is it's going to take around another 24 hours to complete the account transfer, so until then, the audio files are going to be offline I'm afraid. Unless of course my current provider's wishes reach their datacenter and their fairy-godmother makes everything good again.

OK, so it seems the forwarding is working right now, and from a few tests, it seems that podcast files are now downloading from GoDaddy.

There may be more disruption as the domain is fully transferred in the coming days, but hopefully it will go smoothly.

There may also be a short delay after I upload new episodes, before the files get replicated out across the grid. The last episodes that I just uploaded weren't available for a little while. If that starts to happen I'll delay updating the feeds until the file is available.

I'm looking forward now to seeing how GoDaddy's servers hold up when I release a new episode. If this works, it will be great, because it's a lot cheaper than what I've been paying so far for my dedicated server.

In the meantime, if anyone notices any problems, please drop me a note or reply to this thread.

Hi Martin,

I was unaware of your issues this weekend, but I was downloading a few episodes last night (Sun) and things seemed fine if not slightly slower than usual. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks David! It's good to know that things are OK. I imagine the download times may get slower at some times of day, but I'm hoping the downloads don't start to time out. That can be annoying.
