professionally.
Delivery
Your photos will usually be dipatched within 72 hours of the order being received. This can be delayed if you are
requested to enlist in the Expanded Use program at PayPal (See below). You will be emailed when your prints ship.
Depending on the country in which you live, your order should arrive between one and three weeks of you
placing your order. If you live in Japan, your photos should not take more than one week.
Packaging
After extensive trial (and error) we have found rolling prints and shipping in a sturdy card tube with reinforced ends to be the safest way to ensure
that prints arrive without damage.
Return Policy
Requests for returns due to shipping damage must be made within one (1) week of receiving your order.
We pack prints carefully, but photos are delicate, and accidents may happen. Please inspect
your order soon after it arrives and let us know right away about any damage that occurred in shipment.
Be sure to handle your print carefully, preferably wearing cotton gloves and avoid overly rubbing the surface.
Also, note that we cannot be responsible for prints damaged during framing or mounting you may do.
Returns not made in compliance with this procedure will not obligate Martin Bailey Photography in any way.
Once Martin has confirmed the damage, we will resend your shipment or refund the cost of your order.
If you have any other queries or problems, contact us
with this form or email Martin
from the forum. We will help you to achieve a satisfactory resolution.
PayPal "Expanded Use" Registration
Although it is not necessary to even create a PayPal account in many countries now, it is still necessary in some countries.
Also, on occasion PayPal ask a new customers to pay a $1.95 fee and register for "Expanded Use". This is a pain,
but once completed the fee will be returned to your PayPal account and can be used for your next purchase.
You'll need to check your next credit card bill for a four digit number against the $1.95 payment taken by PayPal.
Some credit card companies allow you to check your bill on the Internet. This can help to speed up the confirmation process.
Once you enter the four digit number at PayPal, you can make payments from your account. You probably ended up at this page because you clicked cancel.
If you go through with the order and agree to register for Expanded Use at PayPal, your order will be kept on
record until you enter the four digit number from your credit card bill, at which time your order will be
processed and we can send you your photographs.
Selecting the Type of Photo Paper
| Paper Name | Paper Attributes | Specifications |
| Photo Rag (Canon/Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper) |
The perfect Photo Rag paper for highest quality, archival fine art prints. This paper has a smooth velvety surface, and relatively lightweight, and looks beautiful viewed direct or under glass when framed.
With a dynamic range much greater than most gloss papers, this paper faithfully reproduces delicate gradations and brings out detail is shadow and highlight areas often not visible with a satin or gloss papers. |
Weight: 188g/m2
Thickness: 0.310mm
ISO Whiteness: 90%
|
| Museum Etching (Canon/Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper) |
This is a wonderfully heavy, Fine Art paper for highest quality, archival fine art prints. The surface of the paper is slightly rough almost like a canvas, though this does not
affect the quality of the print. Even the finest detail will be faithfully reproduced. If you enjoy holding a print and feeling the weight in your hands, this is the paper to select. Of
course, it looks beautiful in a frame and under glass too.
With a dynamic range much greater than most gloss papers, this paper faithfully reproduces delicate gradations and brings out detail is shadow and highlight areas often not visible with a satin or gloss papers. |
Weight: 350g/m2
Thickness: 0.570mm
ISO Whiteness: 87%
|
| Gloss Photo Paper |
This is a high quality glossy paper, with excellent image reproduction. Images printed to this paper have less dynamic range than the above Fine Art papers, with deep blacks and somewhat compacted gradations.
If punch is what you are after though, this is excellent paper. Not really suited for images that will be framed and hung unless you know the place it will be hung will not give rise to reflections in the glass and print surface. |
Weight: 260g/m2
Thickness: 0.270mm
ISO Whiteness: 92%
|
| Semi-Gloss Photo Paper |
This is a quality silky paper, with excellent image reproduction. Images printed to this paper have less dynamic range than the above Fine Art papers, with deep blacks and somewhat compacted gradations, probably even more than the above Gloss paper for some images.
If punch is what you are after though, this is another good choice. This paper is better suited for images that will be framed and hung than the Gloss paper above, but still, for this, I recommend one of the Fine Art papers to avoid reflections from the print surface. |
Weight: 260g/m2
Thickness: 0.260mm
ISO Whiteness: 91%

Trimming & Border Options
The following trimming options are available when fitting your chosen photograph(s) to the selected paper size.
Fine Art Border
The photograph will be printed at approximately 80% of the paper size. The top margin will be 7% of the paper size and the bottom margin
will be 13% of the paper size. The sides will be no less than 10% of the paper size. Using A3+ (13x19", 329x483mm) paper size as an example,
the photo below would be printed with a 23mm border on the top and a 42.8mm border on the bottom. The borders to the right and left will be no narrower than 32.9mm.
This crop allows room to autograph and stamp the print and still leave room for matting and framing.
If the photograph is of a wide aspect, it would be printed with a 33mm border to the left and right, and a larger border at top and bottom, but again, the image will be printed roughly 26mm above center.
Approximately 10% Border All Round
The photograph will be printed approximately in the centre 80% of the paper. Using A3+ (13x19", 329x483mm) paper size as an example,
the photo below would be printed with a 10% or 33mm border on the shorter sides. The borders to the right and left will be no narrower than 33mm.
If however, the photograph is of a wide aspect, it would be printed with a 33mm border to the left and right, and a larger border at top and bottom, as in the photograph below.
Trim to Fill Paper (no borders)
The photograph will be printed to fill the paper. Depending on the width/length ratio of the paper, the longest side of the photograph may be trimmed.
In the photograph below, the small areas outside the dotted lines would be trimmed.
Fit to Longest Side (borders on two sides)
The photograph will be printed with the longest side to the edge of the paper. Depending on the width/length ratio of the paper,
the shorter side of the photograph may have a white border as below.
3mm Border on All Sides
The photograph will be printed to leave an equal 3mm border around the edges of the paper.
Depending on the width/length ratio of the paper and photograph, the longest side of the photograph may be trimmed.
Autographed Photos
Martin's preferred way to autograph photos contains not only the autograph with a black archival autograph pen, but also a small 15 x 15mm (10 x 10mm for smaller prints) Japanese
stamp with Martin's name in Kanji, as can be seen to the right and on the prints below. This is a traditional way for Japanese artists to sign
their work and adds a nice touch to the prints. Kanji are originally Chinese characters. Martin writes his name like this, though it actually
reads HEI (top right), RI (bottom right), MA (top left) and TEN (bottom left). In certain circumstances HEI can be read BEI, so with a little
imagination, the whole name can be read BEIRI MATEN, or Bailey Martin, with the surname first.
NOTE: Remember to select a 10% border if you select this option.

In general, autographs are done with an archival autograph pen. If however you request the autograph over the photo, and the nature of the image
will make it difficult to see, as a last resort, Martin will use a permanent colour pen in a that allows the autograph to be read, but not outshine the
photograph. See example below:
Here's another example of an autographed photo, but this time without the stamp (see above).
If you have any questions or special requests contact Martin using this form, or mail Martin from the forum.
